  1. A question of image- English Efa

Nowadays, the image of every person has a great importance to society, especially if we want to have a good job. We can be the smartest person in the room but, if we are not looking good, another person can be chosen for the job, because the appearance is a very important factor too. In my opinion, it shouldn´t be like that, because if these “rules” continue in the future, our personality will never have a chance to been seen!
Personally, I cannot say that I am a victim of the beauty paradigms imposed by the media, because, although I am a person who likes to look good, I don´t wear clothes just because it is fashionable. I have to feel bright on them, otherwise, I don’t wear them.
I think that attitude is more important that the image because we can have a good image and be an annoying and boring person. Whereas a person with attitude doesn´t need to be fashionable to call the attention of the people around her/him. That´s why I spoke about it, when I was speaking about the job interview.
To finish my opinion, I think that there is a very warped idea about perfection.
The way we look should not be such an important factor, as it is in the present, because the most interesting part of us is our personality. It is what makes us different from the others.
A cool shirt, anyone can have it...but a pleasant attitude is not possible to everyone!

Unfortunately, our society lives obsessed with image and most of the time it leaves character judgments to a second plan, but what people ignore is that image is very easily manipulated but a person’s character and moral values are not that easy to hide. Another problem about trusting in image above everything else is that qualified, responsible people are most of the time overlooked in a job interview if the image that they have does not fit the society’s correct image to do a certain job. When does a tattoo or a body piercing reflects bad moral values and inability to do any kind of work?

Hell no! If I was concerned about looking perfect every minute of every day I would be exhausted. The only things that concern me about my image are my own personal taste, and the need to feel good about myself.

What's the most important, image or attitude?
Our society, in particular our media, convey the idea that image is in fact the most important attribute that we have but only naive and low self-esteem people really believe that image can be more important than attitude. Looking “good” is a refuge for people that only live to be accepted in a certain group of “cool”, hollow people to whom the only gold in life is to be popular, famous or some sort of idol without a talent. In the other corner we have got moral values and attitude, things that build a human character. Can we hide our true selves? I believe we can, but eventually who we are is going to burst out whether we like it or not. People with good attitude and moral values towards life usually succeed without the urgency of fitting in, they just wander until they land within a group of people they fit to and enjoy being with.
